BSF Lesson 4: A Relationship With God

Sunday, October 11, 2015

Scripture Memory Verse: Revelation 1:7 (NIV)
" 'Look, he is coming with the clouds,' and 'every eye will see him, even those who pierced him'; and all people on earth 'will mourn because of him.' So shall it be! Amen."

Day 1
What truth did you receive from the lecture?
A recurring theme I've been taking away from the lectures are that when I read the bible I need to make it apart of who I am and take it to heart. One of the principles from last week was: Blessing comes from embedding God's word into your life. (Embedding is to become deeply and solidly lodged in something else.) Am I solidly lodging God's word into my life or am I just going through the motions of bible study and praying? Embedding God's word into my life leads to a greater relationship with God.

What help did you receive from the notes?
This same theme stuck out to me from the notes, "God did not promise His favor to those who simply read or hear this book. The blessing comes when we take the message of the book to heart. This means to apply it to our lives." Taking the message of the book to heart is also what I need to have a greater relationship with God. I want to do better with this and I think what spoke to me on Day 6 is the help I need.

Day 6
What have you learned about God in this week's study?
From this week's study, I was reminded that God is using BSF to be with me everyday and for me to spend time in His word everyday, building a deeper relationship with Him. This is how I can work on my takeaways from Day 1 - taking God's word to heart and not just going through the motions of bible study. I want a greater relationship with God than what I have right now.

{Please note that what I got from this lesson is not necessarily the same as what others did. People can get very different takeaways from the scripture based on prior knowledge, life situations, faith, etc.}
