Kitchen Wall Decor

Finding creative ideas for the walls in our house has been hands down, the hardest part of decorating. I find all of these great ideas on Pinterest (original, I know), but my husband doesn't love them. Trying to find a balance of our two design tastes is (bleeping) hard. So I just started buying things and asking (telling) him to hang them. And guess what? It worked. He has liked ALL of them.

For one of the walls in our kitchen I wanted to decorate it with some of my favorite phrases and an  "L" for our last name. I had this vision for the wall and started looking at artists on Etsy for typography prints I really liked. I came across Laurel with Elm St Studio Prints and asked if she would do a custom listing for me using these phrases. I gave her very little direction, only that I wanted them to compliment each other. Laurel sent me some proofs and from there, she and I emailed back and forth, tweaking things here and there. The end product was amazing - two custom 11 X 4's that I could print myself.

It's kind of hard to see it in these pictures, but Laurel made the prints compliment eachother by using the same font and same colors. The words are all in black except for "Amen" and "Amazing" - they're in purple and are capitalized. The prints also have a purple frame around the words.

Here's a bigger view of the wall.

Sorry for the trash can, but that's real life.

"Bless the food before us, the family beside us and the love between us. Amen"

"Because when you stop and look around this life is pretty amazing."

I got the frames from Michaels during one of their 50% off frames events.

The "L" is a Large Galvanized Metal Letter from Hobby Lobby. Originally it's $29, but look for it to go on one of their weekly deals. You can get it for 50% off.
