Funny Friday: Happy Anniversary to...

Friday, April 29, 2016

I love it when Funny Friday lands on such an important as this one. Today is the 5 year wedding anniversary of Prince William and and Kate Middleton! Gosh I just love them!

Here's a funny pic of William & Kate at their wedding versus Cinderella at the ball. And we can't leave out Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie at the wedding versus Cinderella's step sisters at the ball. You're welcome. TGIF

Funny Friday: Tom Haverfoods

Friday, April 22, 2016

Tom Haverford from Parks & Rec was a hilarious character. He used to come up with all of these really funny names for foods. Thank goodness someone dedicated a website to it - it's pretty funny. There's also this funny clip from one of the episodes - just makes me laugh!

Wknd Recap: Lax/ Sip n Stroll/ Relax

Monday, April 11, 2016

This weekend was amazing! It all started Friday night with a WIN for my lax girls. We played our biggest rival away for their senior night, and beat them by 11-9!

I was so proud of my girls for sticking to the game plan and playing amazing lax. Only four more games left - where has the season gone?

Saturday we went to the Greensboro Sip n Stroll (aka bar crawl downtown.) It was WINDY, but we braved the weather and drank our way through cute little Greensboro.

The Sip n Stroll is this great craft beer and wine stroll at 15 restaurants/ venues including: Deep Roots, The W on Elm, Urban Grinders, Gibb's Hundred Brewing Co., Cafe Europa, Blue Denim, 1618 Downtown and a lot more! I can't wait to go back to all of those places and try out their menus too.

Towards the end of the Sip n Stroll we met up with friends of B's he went to high school with, Will & Katherine. We had such a good time talking, we grabbed dinner downtown too!

Sunday was a day of rest for us and gearing up for this week - another wild one. I have BSF Monday night, games Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Friday we have Special Olympics at the Hebrew Academy. Anyone around be sure to come watch - it's always so much fun! Then Friday night we're going to watch Will and his band play downtown - can't wait. We just gotta make it to Friday!!

Here's to a great week!

Funny Friday: Plizzanet Earth with Snoop Dogg

Friday, April 8, 2016

Guys I'm not a huge Snoop Dogg fan, but I LOVE this segment he did for Jimmy Kimmel Live called, "Plizzanet Earth with Snoop Dogg - Otter vs Crocs." It's hilarious!!

If you're dying laughing at this (like I did) check out his other videos on the right side of that link.

Things I Love: thredUP

Thursday, April 7, 2016

I'm going to be real honest with you right now - I LOVE to purge my closet! At least once a month I'll take a bag of clothes to Goodwill, because I have plenty and hate them just taking up space.

This past month I had some really nice clothes. Some still had the tags on them- J.Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Lucky Brand, Ann Taylor, you get the point. Those clothes, I didn't want to just donate. My sister (who tells me about everything) told me about thredUP this online consignment store based in downtown San Francisco.

thredUP is an easy way to consign your clothes without even leaving your house. They'll send you a "Clean Out Kit" - basically a REALLY big bag that you can fill up and send back for free. Once they get your clothes, it takes about a week for them to tell you how much money they'll give you. If you want your clothes back, you have to pay a $12.99 shipping fee or you can -

1) Get the cash back via PayPal or check
2) Get store credit
3) Donate to support one of their causes

I decided to give thredUP a try, because all of the online consignment stores I've tried haven't wow'd me. One of the ones in Greensboro, you have to wait at the store while they calculate how much they'll give you. Oh but if you're in line, it'll take like three hours. So I peaced out of there!!

I decided to cash out with the money I made from thredUP via PayPal and put it all into my new Carolina LuLaRoe business!

Kids Gracie Top!

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

LuLaRoe is not just for women! We have so many cute pieces for kids too. This past month they introduced their newest addition to their kids line, the Gracie Top!

The unisex LuLaRoe Gracie top, with it's high-low hemline, makes it the perfect kid's top to pair with anything, but it's especially great with leggings! Furthermore, it's looks fitting short sleeves will keep even there active kid comfortable and cool. East to layer and versatile enough to dress up or down. The Gracie is sure to become a staple in your kids' closets. (Available in sizes 2T-14)

How cute is the Gracie on both boys and girls/ both little and big? B and I need to have kids stat so I can buy them cute clothes like this one! :)

If you're familiar with LuLaRoe, then you'll get this - the Gracie top is like an Irma, but for kids. And I LIVE in my Irma's. I bought my first one a couple of months ago and now they're a staple in my closet!

Cheers to Tuesday y'all!

March Recap!

Monday, April 4, 2016

Woah March was busy busy busy!!!! Where to begin?

Lax
I've been coaching lacrosse at a high school down here and I'm lovin it! It's a huge time commitment, but the girls are great and I enjoy working and spending time with them. Only six more games left in the season - crazy!

Basketball
We're proud Duke fans and cheered for our Blue Devils all the way to the Sweet 16. Unfortunately, it was there where we got slammed by those (stupid) Ducks of Oregon.  No worries though, if you recall :) we won the championship game last year! There's always next year guys!

Carolina LuLaRoe
Between lax and LuLaRoe - I've had very little time for anything else. I placed my initial order March 9th and my inventory came in the 17th!!! I was like a kid in a candy shop when those boxes came in! I got my LuLaRoe room all set up and had my online launch party last Monday. Woah - what a rush. It was so much fun. Here was my invitation!

Stay tuned for tomorrow - I have a LuLaRoe post about the trick to spirng!

St. Patrick's Day
We met some friends in downtown Burlington to celebrate! They closed down the streets for a live band and food trucks. What more could a girl ask for? For the record - my hat was camo with green!

Garrett, Alyssa, Me, B, Liz & Robbie @ The Rusted Bucket Tavern - Burlington, NC

Oyster Roast
The World is Your Oyster! B and I hosted our 3rd Annual Oyster Roast. The weather wasn't that great, but the food and company was!!! We went from noon - 1am!! Ate lots of oysters, watched the NCAA men's ball tournament and played corn hole. Thanks again to everyone who made it out!! xo

Trip up North
Easter weekend was the beginning of my spring break so we started it out with a trip to see family in PA. Byron's sister, brother-in-law and three nieces live up there so it was nice to see them. We FaceTime them, but in-person is obviously sooo much better. :)

After PA we headed over to MD to see my family. Saturday I got a quick training from my LuLaRoe sponsor, Jen. She's amazing and bestowed all of her LLR knowledge on me!

Saturday night we helped my parents celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary with a night out! Happy Anniversary M & D!!! Aren't they cute?

Mom & Dad - 34 years!!

We also had a few visitors down here in North Cackalackey in March! I always love it when friends/ family are in town and we can show them around and take them out. My grandparents (Hi Grandpa & Carol!!) came down one weekend. I got to show them where I teach, coach, etc. Now they can put a picture to what I'm talking about. We ended our tour of Greensboro at Maxie B's - this amazing bakery!! We got there at 5 and there was already a line out of the door, but totally worth it. Their cake is the best!!

A couple of weeks later we met family friends/ one of my swim coaches out for dinner. Of course my number one dinner spot to take out-of-town guests is Hop's Burger Bar. One of their son's was looking at swimming for Greensboro College. It was nice to catch up with them and talk swimming! Poor Byron had absolutely no idea what we were talking about.

Spring Break
This past week was SPRING BREAK '16!! It was wild and crazy like the MTV Spring Break Beach House!! Just kidding. It was a long, relaxing, productive spring break. My LuLaRoe launch took up most of my time.

This past weekend, B and I just got stuff down around the house and took a nice hike around the lake by our house. Here we are cheesing hard!! Love him!

Back to reality today! Those kinders are going to be wild and crazy at school. The first day back from a long weekend/ break are always the craziest! Wish me luck!

BSF Lesson 19: Obedience

Sunday, April 3, 2016

Scripture Memory Verse - Romans 8:28 (NIV)
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Obedience is doing what you're told, when you're told with a good, open heart. We learn this at an early age - obey your parents/ teachers/ coach/ authority figure. They hold us accountable and give us a consequence. God does this too, but the accountability piece is on us. If you disobey Him, there is always a consequence. Christian's understand this, non-Christians think they have bad luck or bad karma. Nope, sorry - that's God.

Have an open heart. Don't just do something because it's what God wants or because you think it makes you (look like) a good Christian. Do things for others because you want to, because you're sharing God's love through your acts of kindness.

If you're interested in signing up for BSF, go here to find a class near you!

{Please note that what I got from this lesson is not necessarily the same as what others did. People can get very different takeaways from the scripture and questions based on prior knowledge, life situations, faith, etc.}

Happy Sunday!

Funny Friday: Maybe She's Born With It . . .

Friday, April 1, 2016

They're aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done AND get enough sleep. They're just aren't. Shoutout to caffeine :) I know you guys know what I'm talking about!

The Trick to Spring!

If you follow Carolina LuLaRoe on Instagram, I posted some pics last week on the trick to dressing for Spring. Spring can be tricky - cool mornings and warm afternoons. How to cope? Wear layers!

Try layering your favorite dress with a vest. Cara has our LuLaRoe Amelia on. (It has pockets!!!)

Here in NC we can't put our (old man) winter clothes away quite yet. Wear a skirt and blouse with a sweater over top. Or wear a dress and put a sweater over top so it looks like you're wearing a top and skirt. Wink wink - very cleaver way to change up your style.

Here's another pic of layers!! Just add a LuLaRoe Sarah Cardigan. Lengthy cardigan's are in!!

And of course, you can't go wrong with the staple jean jacket!

I had my online launch this past Monday and it was so much fun! Go to my Carolina LuLaRoe Facebook group to see what I have in store. I just ordered more inventory this morning! Ahh so exciting!

Funny Friday: SNL Skit "All the Single Ladies"

St. Patrick's Day was yesterday, but all of the pub crawls are this weekend. Cheers my friends!

Things I Love: Nate Berkus for Target

Thursday, March 17, 2016

Nate Berkus is that cutie interior designer Oprah made famous. He used to go on here show and offer design advice to viewers as well as coordinate surprise make-overs for her show.

In 2012, Nate started collaborating with Target (!) to launch his Target Home collection, a 150-piece line that includes bedding, bath, accessories, lighting, rugs and window treatments. Lucky for us! He also releases holiday specific lines! His most recent line at Target is stationary and office essentials alongside his 2015 Cali-inspired spring collection.

Lately, every time I walk into Target I have to stop by the office supplies aisle and see what new Nate Berkus items they have out. I've bought a couple here and there, hoping to slide them by my husband a little at a time. :)

Next time you're at Target, make sure you look for anything & everything Nate Berkus - you won't be disappointed.

Things I Love: Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush

Thursday, March 10, 2016

For Christmas I got the Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush and have fallen head over heels in love with it. This lightweight brush gently brushes/ massages as it cleans your skin, removing residue, dirt and makeup.

I noticed the first week I started using it, how smooth my skin felt and my husband even commented how much better it looked. (Not that I have bad skin, so it's a big deal when even he notices it! Insert smiley, blushing face.) I tried to play all coy when he said something to me about it. Wanting to extend the conversation. Can you believe it, he didn't wanna talk about my new skincare regimen? The nerve.

A piece of advice if you've never used a cleansing brush before - don't use it everyday at first. Start with every other day or every two days to see how your face handles it. I was fine using it everyday (combination-dry skin), but my sister (combination-oily skin) had to start out with every other day and work up to using it every day. Just a tip.

Here's how Mary Kay describes it - I'm just gonna say, "Ditto!" -

  • Removes makeup 85% better than cleansing by hand.
  • Boosts the absorption of your next skin care step.
  • Starts improving skin’s appearance immediately.
  • Helps polish away the look of past skin damage for a more even-looking complexion.
  • Softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

The brush is $50 and comes with batteries and two brush heads (to be changed out every three months).

Guys, tomorrow is Friday! We're almost to the weekend! Hang in there!

Cassie Skirt

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

"People let me tell you about my best friend . . . ." AKA the Cassie skirt from LuLaRoe!

The LuLaRoe Cassie skit is a pencil skirt that takes the fancy up a notch from the maxi skirt without sacrificing comfort. The waistband flatters all body types and enables the wearer to adjust the length as needed. You can still dance like no one's watching and know that everything you want covered will stay covered. And you'll look hot, too!

Brittany Fullwood with The Hello Honey Blog in her LuLaRoe Cassie Skirt.

Cassie goes great with a graphic tee . . .

. . . or a sweater and booties!

You can go formal for work . . .

. . . or add a tee for play.

Plus the Cassie skirt comes in girls sizes too!

A glass (or 2) of wine a day, keeps the doctor away

Monday, March 7, 2016

Last week, Shape Magazine made me the happiest girl on earth with an article entitled, "Confirmed: 2 Glasses of Wine Before Bed Helps You Lose Weight."

Now those who've followed me from the beginning, know I'm not trying to be skinny and I have healthy weight and fitness goals.  And I know, there's two sides to every story. Magazines are REALLY good at drawing our attention - and boy did this one snatch me right up.
Good news for anyone that prefers Cabernet over cardio: Drinking two glasses of wine before bed could actually be the magic pill that helps you lose weight, according to two recent studies from Washington State University and Harvard Medical School.
Here's why: Apparently, there's a polyphenol called resveratrol in red wine that transforms "white fat" into "beige fat" (AKA a version that's much easier to burn off), say researchers at WSU. Even crazier, the Harvard study, which looked at 20,000 women over the course of 13 years, determined that those who drank two glasses of wine daily were 70 percent less likely to be overweight. Whoa.
Other studies have found that resveratol also helps to suppress your appetite. But let's be real here, after two glasses of red I'm in bed, not eating. So maybe THAT'S why it helps you lose weight - you're too sleepy to eat.

Food sources for resveratol include grapes, blueberries, raspberries and mulberries. Yum!

Articles like these are fun to read, but educate yourself, because every magazine has a hidden agenda. I don't really think two glasses of wine before bed will help me lose weight, maybe it will. I'm not counting on it. There's always new research coming out in the health industry, so make sure you're making educated decisions. Do your research!

There is no "magic pill" to weight loss. The only way to do it is eating healthy and putting in the work at the gym! You can't take a shortcut, but you can get started.

Cheers!

BSF Lesson 18: Psalm 23

Sunday, March 6, 2016

Scripture Memory Verse - Revelation 13:8 (NIV)
"All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast - all whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world."

Day One
What was meaningful to you in the lecture?
Satan likes us to be so involved with ourselves that we don't see the lost people out in the world. We talked in church today about 1 Corinthians 13, "Love is kind." And how that kindness isn't just being nice to people but Acts of Kindness. Those acts of kindness and acts of love need to also be towards those lost people in the world. We need to do for others, not ourselves. Share the love! xo

What help did you receive from the notes?
"God keeps us safely grounded in truth through His Word, and His armor shields us from Satan's schemes. When you are well-grounded in god's reality revealed in the Bible, you will recognize counterfeits. . . " Gotta keep a look out!

Day Six
What have you learned about God in this week's study?
Revelation 13 reminds us that since the Fall in the Garden of Eden, suffering has been and will be a part of this world until Christ returns. Suffering calls for perseverance in God's people as we await with assurance the end to all suffering, as revealed in Revelation. After reading a series of passages we were to answer each of these questions.

What does suffering do for God's people?
I found my answer in Romans 5:3-4

Not only so, but we[a] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

What does God give His people to equip them in their suffering? He is with us! Psalm 23

What are we called to do since we have received comfort and God's equipping in our suffering? LOVE EACHOTHER!! John 15:12

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

If you're interested in signing up for BSF, go here to find a class near you!

{Please note that what I got from this lesson is not necessarily the same as what others did. People can get very different takeaways from the scripture and questions based on prior knowledge, life situations, faith, etc.}

Funny Friday: Let's Go Eat Cookies

Friday, March 4, 2016

This is a little girl after my own heart. All she wants to do is eat cookies and ice cream and go swimming. I too am a sucker for cookies and ice cream :)

Funny Friday: Running

Irma Tunic

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

LuLaRoe's Irma is, not to overstate it, but the BOMB DOT COM! I have at least five of these bad boys and absolutely love them. They run big, so I suggest ordering at least one size down, maybe even two down. (Ex. If you normally wear a medium, I would buy a XS or XXS.)

The Irma top is a loose, knit "high-low" tunic with fitted mid-length sleeves. The extra length in the back makes it a great compliment to our leggings - especially for all those wanting some extra coverage for their, ahem, assets. Wear this top and you might never take it off!

One of my fave parts about the Irma is the high-low design. It covers your booty in the back but goes to your hips in the front. Business in the front, party in the back. :)

The Irma is the perfect compliment to LuLaRoe leggings!

Check out the Carolina LuLaRoe Facebook Page for happenings and updates. To shop my inventory click "Shop Now" and get access to the Carolina LuLaRoe private Facebook group. Make sure to head over there - every Friday I'm doing a GIVEAWAY. So far it's been free shipping, a pair of leggings and a $25 gift card!

If you fall head over heels in love with LuLaRoe (like I did), consider hosting a Pop Up Boutique. I'm starting to book in-home and online pop ups for April. It's really easy - you invite some ladies and I bring the clothes to you. No speech, no catalogues, no pressure on you or me! Just shopping with your friends in your home. If you're not into having all of those people over (I get it), you could host an online Pop Up. Whatever your cup of tea you earn FREE clothes! Hostesses earn a free pair of leggings for hosting plus a free item for every 10 sold.
